big girl drinking from a straw

Carys still doesn't hold her own bottle or sippy cup. well she holds her sippy cups but hasn't really figured out that she has to tilt her head back to drink from it. so i always have to hold it for her when she wants some water. 

i bought a sippy cup with a straw thinking it would take some time for her to learn how to drink from it, but i figured it would help her learn how to hold her own cup.

but after a couple of minutes of giving it to her, she figured out how to drink from the straw

its probably not a big deal to most people, but little things like this make me so excited! i told her she was "such a big girl, and so smart"

i could tell she was really excited about the straw too, i've never seen her drink that much water in one sitting... i had to take the cup away from her so should would eat her lunch

Play date with Isabelle

yesterday Carys and I went to my cousin Sebnem's house for a play date with her 8 month old daughter Isabelle...

Carys had so much fun! we hadn't been over there since they were teeny tiny babies, so it was great seeing them together again.

they are only 2 months apart so i can't wait to watch them grow up together, i know they will be great friends!

tofu!!

she loves it so much she has to wipe it all over her face and head...and shirt. notice how she's not wearing a bib? this is not by MY choice, but by hers. she hates wearing bibs now and I have to fight with her to keep them on. as soon as she seems me coming at her with a bib she starts waving her arms so i can't even get close to her to put it on... it makes me laugh every time.

fun at the library

I've been taking Carys to different baby classes at our local libraries. They read books and sing fun songs. Carys has a great time and it's always fun seeing her interact with other babies. Here she is this morning at one of the classes...

i took the pictures with my phone b/c i didn't want to whip out my camera during the middle of the class but Carys was so cute, i just had to take some pics!

last weekend we went over to Jen and Ricky's house to hang out and see their 2 month old baby boy Ricky Jr.  Barbara and Billy came over as well, and of course brought Carys' BFF London. These three are going to be getting into trouble in no time!

the best part of the whole night was us girls decided to leave the boys at home with the kids and go out and have a well deserved drink!
